To Use the Tollways With, or Without, a Toll Tag?
More and more tollgates on DFW tollways are completely unmanned – in fact SH 121 has no people-booths at all. Instead of collecting hard currency from you, your license plate is photographed and compared to DMV registration records and then you are invoiced by mail. Fairly streamlined for the traveler. But also about 40% more expensive than using a toll tag. So it is worth your while to visit www.NTTA.org and get yourself a toll tag.

If you are driving an out of state vehicle, definitely no need for a toll tag; the NTTA still has not worked out license plate billing to residents of other states.
