Arlington, Texas welcomes Super Bowl XLV 2011 to [Dallas Cowboys] Stadium

The Pittsburg Steelers will meet the Green Bay Packers for a Texas showdown.

Welcome with a warm Texas Howdy!

The stadium has reached capacity seating  More than 5,000 seats are being added.  External party pavillions have been built to accommodate on-premise Big Game watching gatherings – starting at $200 a person.  Sounds like a lot of fun.  But for that price plus expenses for transportation and food, you and your buddies could purchase your own big screen TV plus some pretty good grub, and avoid the traffic.

If you are fortunate enough to be going to the game, be sure to check the traffic report and leave with plenty of time for travel, parking, and seating.  The less stress from your commute, the more energy you’ll have to enjoy the game.

Oh yeah, don’t forget to bundle up.  Though this is Texas, it looks like the Packers brought the Green Bay temperatures with them.

Rotating brownouts by the electric companies in North Texas in order to manage power consumption in light of the record cold temperatures – 14f degrees this morning, and probably in the single digits tonight.

Typically you cannot exempt certain facilities such as schools and office buildings from a grid outage, however, Cowboys Stadium is in fact exempt. When you think about it, the big Stadium already has thousands and thousands of people onsite in preparation for the 2011 Super Bowl football game, and on game day, the “population” will swell to that of a medium sized city (about 130k people, whereas Frisco, TX just achieved a size of 100k).

These rotating brownouts are reported to last around 20 minutes.
